Our non-traditional user conference is tailored for organizations, destinations and event planners who want to succeed at event housing.
With a clear focus on room block management, Unconvention is a must-attend conference designed to boost event housing, uncover new revenue streams, and stay current in the industry.
We don’t believe in sitting in one ballroom all day, it’s too boring! Every spring we bring the tribe together and engage through a diverse offering of fun learning opportunities and creative networking events at various out-of-the-box venues.
Unconvention 2020 is happening in Vancouver, Canada March 30 – April 1.
The education at the Unconvention is created with our core value of Thirst for Learning in mind; every session is intended to help you grow professionally and/or personally.
Our primary focus is on best practices around event room block management and how to be more efficient within the Meetingmax software.
Check out our past agendas below for an idea of the education you can expect.
Networking can sound daunting to some; what we really strive for at the Unconvention is connection. It is the perfect opportunity to connect with industry colleagues (and friends!) to share event room block management best practices.
We make every effort to foster an environment of open discussion with your peers, those who face the same housing situations you deal with on a daily basis.
Seasons of Change
In 2019 we went to 8 unique venues, hosted 15 education sessions, had endless networking opportunities, an effective interactive app, and one highly entertaining experience dinner.
Education sessions included how to grow your housing business, how to effectively brand your events in Meetingmax, and best practices for training your hotel partners. Miki Agrawal keynoted an outstanding session on Sunday morning around how to disrupt an industry.
Phew, that was an inspiring few days!
A Decade in the Making
In 2018 we took attendees on a journey capturing the past decades Unconvention highlights. We had the opportunity to visit 8 unique Vancouver venues and attend 12 education sessions focused on expanding event housing knowledge. To get the group warmed up we took them on an exciting flip with Flyover Canada and how could we forget the Bagpipers leading our parade. An early morning start to Furry Creek where industry leaders gave insight to current trends and Achieving GDPR compliance was discussed. Networking was the name of the game at the Speed Dating Session before a highly entertaining dinner on Granville Island. You were coached on Leading the SHIFT and Influencing your Team Energy and were skillfully trained on to How Grow your Housing Business. We had the best time with you during the Unconvention and can’t wait to see what you put into practice back in your work space.
Over the course of 3 days Unconvention attendees had the opportunity to visit 9 unique Vancouver venues and attend 19 education sessions focused on expanding their event housing knowledge! We also learned new techniques for stress management from painting, to traditional tea ceremonies, to taking time for a few deep breaths.
